Hello Sweaglers as Laurie Rockwell used to call us. The 2019 count will be held on Jan. 13 this year. I hope that for those of you receiving this that are organizers, you are able to muster some team mates to cover your areas again.
As usual, we are looking to count all species of swans or eagles in your area. The only data you need to collect are 2 age categories (adult, immature) and the numbers of each. I also like to get the names of all of the observers so that I can recognize them in the report and ultimately in a more inclusive document featuring their years of dedication.
If you have any brief comments on related topics that may influence your count such as weather, icing conditions or visibility these are always helpful to include.
For Kamloops Naturalists reading this, we will meet at Riverside Park in the coliseum parking lot at 9 AM. Bring a lunch if you intend to attend the entire trip which goes as far as Chase. We will organize car pooling as appropriate.
Good luck to all and I will be in touch with coordinators after the count for results.
Happy New Year.
