  1. Wonderful Rick and such fine photos. A great bit of life history as well. Once while fishing the Thompson main stem, below Cache Creek, I had an otter world encounter. I was wading deep, when I saw two otters rolling and undulating through the rapids towards me. For the rest of the story you need understand that I was wearing a capped hat, zinc oxide smeared on my cheeks and other bizarre angling get up. One of the otters vanished, and then spy hopped, rearing up right in front of me, some twenty feet away – there to gaze in seeming wonder, with its dripping, dark eyes gazing for maybe twenty seconds. I wonder what it must have later told its mate.
