Notice of Field Trip Cancellations

All of the Kamloops Naturalist Club spring field trips are cancelled. Although these field trips are cancelled as KNC functions, these are still good locations and times of day to see birds in these areas. Now is a great time to visit Gamble Pond in McGowan Park and the slough at McArthur Island to see migrating ducks up close. Morning is the best time to go. BC Nature Annual General Meeting

The BC Nature Annual General Meeting scheduled for May 28-30, 2020 in Princeton and hosted by the Vermilion Forks Field Naturalists has been cancelled. The next general meeting is now scheduled for May 27-29, 2021, hosted by Vermilion Forks. The AGM in 2022 will be in Kelowna and hosted by the Central Okanagan Naturalists’ Club. If you have submitted your registration and paid fees for the 2020 conference, the organizing committee will be glad to hold your registration until next year. Kamloops Naturalist Club – Annual General Meeting

The Kamloops Naturalists Club annual general meeting was held on Saturday the 18th of January, 2020. It was hosted in the St. Paul’s Cathedral. Key points included an overview of the busy 2019 year, the upcoming busy 2020 year, new and old business and an election. The annual general meeting saw an attendance of around 45 people and ended shortly after the election, potluck, and raffle. Another Species Of Bat Confirmed With White-Nose Syndrome In Washington State

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has reported the first case of white-nose syndrome in a Fringed Myotis bat. This finding brings the total number of bat species confirmed with the disease in North America to 13. OLYMPIA – White-nose syndrome, an often-fatal disease of hibernating bats, has been confirmed for the first time in a fringed myotis (Myotis thysanodes) in King County, Washington.
