Aberdeen-Pineview Loop Walk
Leaders will be Joy Gothard and Sue Cane.
As Aberdeen residents we have been walking trails between Aberdeen and Pineview for years. The landscape is changing due to increasing residential development, the new Sníne Elementary School, and the completion of an emergency exit between Aberdeen and Pineview. Aberdeen, Dufferin, and Pineview (Kamloops Growth Hub) are projected to see about 9,800 new residents and 4,425 housing units in the next 20 years.
As we walk through forest, mainly Interior Douglas-Fir, and over to Python Pond we will see a variety of birds, mammals and some Fire Smart forestry work.
We will be walking at a gentle pace on a loop of 4-5 km and for up to 4 hours. The route has variable elevation and uneven paths, with a short “bushwack” to reach an existing skidder road. The elevation gain is about 120m.
We will meet at 10 am. Park on the right-hand side of Aberdeen Drive, just past the West end of Crosshill Dr. (not the first Crosshill Drive you come to, because it is a loop drive).
