Ralph Ritcey Memorial Big Bird Day
It is time to think about our annual birding day on Saturday May 16th (a.k.a., the Ralph Ritcey Memorial Big Bird Day), a competition to see who can see the most species—north or south) Glenn Dreger is coordinating the South shore group Teres Corboy the North shore gang.
Participants can come from either side of the river to join either team (that is, you don’t HAVE to bird where you live) and Glenn and Teresa try to make sure as much of the south and north sides of the river within 50 km of Kamloops are covered.
The tally will take place after dinner which starts at 5 pm. Bring your own picnic dinner and lawn chairs to the home of Bruce and Anne Ritcey at 877 Crestline Street in Brocklehurst. Beverages will be provided by the club.
Ralph Ritcey used to be the overall coordinator of this event and always brought prizes. We’d like to resurrect that practice. To start us off, Glenn has a couple of nice items to donate (a birding trivial pursuit game, a copy of the newest birding book – The birds of Kamloops and the TNRD by Tom Beeke – a $60 value). If you want to make a donation of a prize, bring it along to the gathering at the end of the day—more details on that to follow!
If you are interested in participating for the south shore – please contact Glenn with a text to 2450-318-6368 or an email to gdreger@telus.net. Those who want to be on Team North, contact Teresa Corboy teresa_corboy@hotmail.com
May the best team win!!
