Christmas Bird Count
The Kamloops Christmas Bird Count is set for December 17th this year. The count covers an area defined by a circle centered at the top of Mount Dufferin. The circle is approximately 22 km in diameter. The circle area has been divided into 12 zones. I have attached the maps of each zone.
During the count, participants keep track of each species seen, and the total number of each species seen. They also keep track of the amount of time spent doing the count and the total distance covered by various means of travel.
This data is submitted to the count compiler (Glenn Dreger – gdreger@telus.net) either by attending the pot luck held at Ken and Marina Lipinski’s or by emailing it to Glenn.
You do not have to be an accomplished birder to take part. Observers go in small groups. If you are not confident of your birding ability, I will put you with someone who will help you put a name to the “little brown bird”
If you would like to take part, take a look at the maps I have attached and let me know which area you are interested in. I will put groups together and let you know who is in your group and how to contact each other.
I will be out of reliable cell and internet service from December 7 until December 14. I can usually receive text messages at 250-318-6368, and get messages on FB messenger. I cannot always reply during the time I am away, so it would be best if you could make a decision to participate and choose an area in the next few days. Email me at the address above if you can participate.
It is an enjoyable day
