Horsebrush Watch
“Hi all! I’m an undergrad student looking for help with a uncommon grassland shrub of the southern BC interior: Gray Horsebrush (Tetradymia canescens).
Gray Horsebrush looks a lot like Rabbitbrush (Ericameria nauseosa), but it blooms at a different time of year.
Basically, if you see Rabbitbrush blooming in June, you are NOT looking at Rabbitbrush, you are looking at Horsebrush (Rabbitbrush blooms in late summer and autumn).
I am looking for timing of bloom for Gray Horsebrush. I expect the shrub to start blooming anytime, especially in the lower grasslands, and into June.
If you are interested and able, I would like to know the date and location (and # if possible) of blooming Gray Horsebrush shrubs. Please contact me at vanessa.m.robinson@gmail.com with any observations, or if you have any other related comments or questions!

Happy trails, nature lovers!”
