KNC 50/50 Draw!
How does the 50/50 work?
Half of the up to $3,000 raised through ticket sales will go to funding an interpretive signage program at the Tranquille Viewing Platform and supporting educational programming, and the other half will go to one lucky ticket holder!
What is the Tranquille Viewing Platform?
After more than three decades of deliberation and planning, Kamloops Naturalist Club (KNC) will soon start to see the dream of building a wildlife viewing platform on the Tranquille wetlands become a reality.
The project will include a bermed path from the parking area, to an elevated boardwalk which will take users to the edge of the wetland and out above the surface of the water. KNC will run educational programming and permanent, interpretive signs will be included that tell the story of the pond, species of interest, and the use of the area by the Secwépemc people.
The platform will be an invaluable resource to wildlife enthusiasts, students, and tourists and will offer an unbeatable experience of the Tranquille wetlands.

Why signage matters.
Signage incorporated into the design of the platform will increase the educational value of the project, specifically highlighting the rich heritage of indigenous uses in this area, and providing an interpretive experience to appreciate the history of the Secwépemc peoples in the Tranquille area. It will help to tell the story of historical occupation and use on the site, and also provide insights to the complex, diverse ecosystem of the wetland. Guidance on species to look for, changes in water levels, and migratory patterns of wildlife in the area will all be incorporated into the desing. In this way, the platform will not only provide a spectacular view and a rare vantage point for wildlife viewing, but also act as an educational tool– telling the story of our cultural heritage in Kamloops and showcasing the incredible diversity of wildlife in our stunning region.
